As our Tech Lead, you will be the most senior technical individual contributor in the company, with real ownership of architecture, technical direction, and how we build going forward. You will stay hands-on in the code, while shaping how our platform, team, and engineering practices evolve.

At Plaace, AI is already a natural part of how we build and operate. In this role, you will take ownership of how we push this further, across development workflows, internal processes, and product capabilities.

About Plaace

Plaace is a Norwegian tech company building a platform for location analytics. We help retailers, restaurants, property owners, and public-sector organisations make better decisions about where to locate and how to grow.

We’ve spent the past five years building a strong product and have over 100 customers across the Nordics, including Elkjøp, Eplehuset, and SATS. We’re now entering a new phase focused on scaling the product, improving the customer journey, and expanding into new markets.

The Role

You will take ownership of the technical direction at Plaace, working closely with the CEO, COO, and the rest of the team to ensure that what we build creates real value for customers.

This is a hands-on role. You will spend time in the codebase, while also making key decisions around architecture, tooling, and how we work as a team.

You will:

• Act as the primary technical lead in the company, combining architecture and implementation

• Own key technical decisions and ensure they align with product and business goals

• Work closely with product and commercial teams to translate needs into working solutions

• Drive how we build, ship, and scale our platform

• Help shape how we work as a team, including engineering practices and ways of working

You will also play a key role in how AI is used at Plaace, from development workflows and tooling, to parts of the product and internal processes.

🏗️ What You Will Be Doing

• Contribute hands-on to the codebase across the stack

• Drive architectural decisions and ensure systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable

• Improve how we build software, including use of tools, workflows, and automation

• Work closely with product, design, and commercial teams to deliver real customer value

• Help build and develop the engineering team over time

• Take ownership of how AI is applied in practice, improving development speed, output, and selected product capabilities

• Balance speed and pragmatism with long-term quality and stability
  

👤 Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is both highly technical and highly practical. Someone who enjoys building, takes initiative, and understands how technology creates value.

You likely have:

• Strong experience as a full-stack or backend-heavy engineer

• Solid understanding of system design, architecture, and scalability

• Experience working closely with product or commercial teams

• A hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership end-to-end

• A pragmatic mindset focused on delivering value, not just building for the sake of it

• The ability to move fast, while still making sound technical decisions

You actively use AI tools in your day-to-day work (for example for coding, problem solving, or building internal tools), and are curious about how they can be applied in new ways.

It’s a plus if you:

• Have experience from startups or scale-ups

• Have worked with large datasets or data-heavy products

• Have mentored others or taken informal leadership responsibility

You are based in Oslo.
